The Camping Must Have Checklist

April 10th, 2011

Whether you’re  are interested in sleeping under the stars, or using a traditional tent, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye to what the short term weather forecast will be. Despite the fact that you can still have fun camping when it does rain, you still want to make sure the weather is appropriate for your next camping adventure. Regardless of whether or not you are sleeping with a tent, you will need a sleeping bag or blanket.  Additional sleeping equipment would include pillows and the ever popular air mattress.

Once you have these essential items ready for your next camping trip, you can move on to the important item on the Must Have Checklist. That is of course, the Food. What many campers enjoy about camping is eating outdoors. There is something out cooking food on the open fire that just makes even the most ordinary food taste especially great. The type of food you cook should all depend on your preference and the preference of the other campers.

Prepare The Right Gear For a Successful Camping Trip

February 15th, 2011

In preparation for your camping trip, you should make a list of what you will need like camping tents and other Coleman camping gear. Camping is an outdoor recreational activity, which would mean that you are going to be spending your time outdoors, away from civilization. You are going to sleep, eat, and do whatever it is you want to do surrounded by nature in all its glory. It also means you are leaving behind all the comforts of home. To help you get started on your list, you need to determine where you are going, for how long, what time of the year you are planning to go, and how many are coming with you.

There are public and privately owned campgrounds for you to choose from. Most of these places have websites where you could check out the amenities offered as well as recreation opportunities. Amenities that you have to look for include hot showers, restrooms, laundry facilities, picnic tables, fire rings, and potable water source. This would give you an idea of what not to bring anymore like table for dining, extra clothes, and water for drinking. You just have to bring Coleman camping gear like folding chairs and water jugs. Knowing what activities you will be busy with during camping like swimming, fishing, hiking, etc. would help you pack the right gear or outfit you will need for a particular activity.

Beginner Camping Items

February 6th, 2011

If you’ve never been to the outdoors before you’re probably wondering what to take with you. While everyone has different needs and interests in the outdoors the three items below are beginner camping items that are greatly needed by most.

A water purifier is very important before taking a drink in the outdoors. You need to stay hydrated, especially while hiking and doing other activities, but if you drink water straight from the creek/river/lake you are probably going to get sick. No one wants to get sick, especially out in the woods on your first camping trip. If you’re going to be sticking near a campground that provides water that you trust is clean then you can skip this, but otherwise it’s a good item to have around.

A camp stove is another essential. Unless you plan on eating peanut and butter jelly the whole time you want to be able to cook up some nice warm food. You can get packets of instant food that will be light to carry and make having a great meal a simple task. Again, if you’re going to be sticking around a campground that offers a grill or something maybe you can get around this, but you probably still need to bring your own charcoal if that is the case.
